Splatter Nail Art

Summer is setting in and oh boy, it's getting really hot! Summer means no school and no school.... time to paint my nails!!! I tried this splatter nail art and it turned out so cool and it's the perfect mani for hot summers, with the vibrant colours.

Apart from the nail polishes, you will need:

  • A straw
  • A pair of scissors
  • Newspaper
  • Aluminium foil

Let's Begin!

1. First and foremost, paint all your nails with a protective basecoat. Let it dry and paint all your nails 2-3 coats of a white polish until opaque.

2. This method is really messy, so you'll want to protect your skin around your nails. You can use liquid latex, but even tape will do.

3. Now its time for the fun part! Place 2-3 drops of nail polish (of any colour) on the aluminium foil. Take your straw, and dip it in this polish and make sure you scoop some into too. Then, aim it over the nail and blow into the straw with a good amount of force.
If no polish come out, then maybe your polish is too thick or you are not blowing hard enough or there isn't enough polish on the straw. If it's too thick, nail polish remover can thin it out.

4. When you're done with one colour, simple snip off the end of the straw so that you can reuse it for your other colours too. For best results, try not to use more than 4-5 colours.

It's ok if you do not get it right in your first try. It did take me some time to get a hang of it too...

5. When you are done, carefully remove that tape around your nails. Then let it completely dry before applying a top coat, to smooth out the surface. I used a matte one, but any will do...
